Do you accept referrals of young people from the general community?

We don’t have the resources to support young people needing professional psychiatric or social work support so in most cases we partner with established Non-Government Organisations who engage professionals in actively working in the young people’s lives, who have little or no family support (Out of Home Care). We form a part of the team in aiming for the best possible outcomes for these young people.

Do you accept referrals from areas outside of our local district?

We operate a day programme to enable young people to return to their stable accommodation each evening, be it Foster Care Placement, Group Homes or Residential Care. We don’t have any accommodation on site so generally accept referrals between North Wollongong and Ulladulla, in the South East region of NSW. (We are located in the Northern part of the Shoalhaven). This equates to the distance that young people can be practically transported to and from the farm by carers or workers.

Is there a cost involved in referring young people to the farm?

Yes. We charge a subsidised running cost rate per hour to help us pay our substantial running costs each week. Our Board has established a sliding scale for individuals or groups of varying sizes. Pricing is available on application. We continue to rely on the generosity of the community to run the charity.

What timeslots are available for young people each week?

Available timeslots vary over the year as young people commence or leave the programme. We try to book fixed times of 9am to 12 noon or 1pm to 4pm each day to reduce crossover times for young people, who exhibit challenging behaviours. Some young people attend for only one session a week and others attend more frequently depending on their needs and circumstances. (We have young people in the programme who have been attending the farm for 9 years). A number of experienced mentors are available on farm.

How does my organisation go about referring a young person to your charity?

What am I committing to if I refer a young person to the charity?

The demand for our services generally exceeds our capacity. As a consequence, we ask referring organisations to understand we can’t easily fill a permanent booking at the last minute if a young person is not able to attend. As our running costs continue, a charge will be issued, if insufficient notice is given.
