In March 2019, we were contacted by Wayne, a member of the senior leadership team at the Officeworks Nowra store, who asked us if we would be interested in being their nominated charity during their annual Round-Up to Make a Difference appeal in June. He explained that during the month of June, customers were invited to round up at the checkout to the nearest dollar to support the store’s nominated charity and they wanted to know if we would like to be that charity. Not only could customers round up to the nearest dollar, they could add any dollar amount to their purchase.
As many of our supporters know, so much of what we do at A Taste of Paradise is reliant on the generosity of donors to be able to continue week in and week out. We gratefully accepted the invitation. Throughout June we advertised on our Facebook page, encouraging Officeworks customers to round up while they were shopping at Officeworks Nowra to support our charity.
In July 2019, we were invited to visit the Officeworks Nowra store to accept the very kind and generous donation of $3064.27 from Peter, the Business Manager, on behalf of their store and customers. It was so much more than we expected, and we are so grateful.
It was also so lovely to meet Pam Ryan, who was the team member whose fundraising efforts raised almost two thirds of the total donation amount. We are very thankful to Pam for her passion and commitment to not only what she does at Officeworks Nowra, but for the very real way she has impacted the lives of the young people we support.
This wonderful donation has been used to toward training our new staff in farm safety procedures when working with young people. This training is essential for all staff, to ensure that both staff and kids are safe on the farm.
