Volunteers have been for many years the backbone of our charity and one of the reasons for our ongoing success in supporting young people who have had a tough start in life. Our volunteers help us maintain and provide the facilities and infrastructure necessary to ensure great outcomes with young people. They support our qualified and experienced staff mentors who work one on one with the young people referred to our charity.
Volunteers need to have a particular skill set needed by the charity and be enthusiastic about working in a team. They often range in age from the mid-20s through to the 80s. They must have or be able to gain a current Volunteer Working with Children Check, be organised, and self-managers.
Volunteers are involved in many of the support needs of the charity. These include such things as: Administration, Marketing and Social media, serving on the Board of Directors, helping prepare and run our stall at the Berry Farmers market, cooking marmalade , relish from our gardens for sale at the markets, Gardening, Plant Propagation, Farm maintenance, Engineering and Building projects, Technology support, Fund raising, and Grant applications, to name a few.
We are also fortunate to have individual organisations who contribute in a volunteer capacity. A great example of this is Redpath Partners who are a specialised recruitment agency dedicated to the property, construction, and energy sectors. They have offices located in Sydney and around the world and we feel very privileged that they have chosen to support us for three years in a row. Nick, Oliver, Ben, Jay and the team had given up time every year to help us complete a range of tasks such as tree planting and fencing maintenance. Their enthusiasm and determination to make a difference to our charity is greatly appreciated.
