It was a delight to be able to hold several open mornings recently. Tim always gives an inspiring talk to provide insight into how and why we run A Taste of Paradise farm and then, after a morning tea, we have a walk around to see some of the activities.

One of the mornings was a thank you to the Berry Garden Club who have generously donated funds over the years to enable us to purchase several items. It was great to view the farm and see how they have supported us over the years. From composting toilets to raised garden beds to solar water pumps, just to name a few, the items purchased have greatly benefitted the young people in our programs. We are grateful for their continued partnering with us so we can provide one-on-one mentoring in this unique environment which has proven to be so helpful to those young people who struggle with more traditional learning situations. We know the life skills they develop here will enrich their futures.

Our other morning was open to community members who wanted to find out more about the farm. Many had read our articles in the Town Crier or visited our website and were curious about our programs and our charity. Our community is very supportive of A Taste of Paradise and seeing it firsthand is an eye-opener into what we offer young people. The visitors were very appreciative of the work of the charity with the young people. One person applied straight away to volunteer with us and others are considering their skills to see how they can also support us. Our volunteers are very integral to keeping the farm running and maintained with all the tasks the young people aren’t able to do. Donations are also much appreciated.

We trust all the visitors to the farm have been inspired by what they have seen and learnt and will let others know of their experience. If you are interested in participating in an open morning, please get in contact with our office. We try to hold one every term, depending on the weather and the workload at the farm.
