Life abounds at A Taste of Paradise with one…no two…no three new baby calves to happy encounters between our cows and Jamais – the prize Saler bull generously lent to us by Susan Nicholas and Peter Gregory. As mentioned before Jamais is both good looking and quiet which makes him an extremely popular and rare example of the male species! All three calves are boys so let’s hope they inherit some of Jamais’ good nature.
All mothers and babies are well which is wonderful. This is the first generation of our new herd that will represent an improvement in the quality of our stock. It has been cold lately (news that is unlikely to have escaped your notice) and this has presented a challenging environment for the calves compared to the one they were enjoying just a few short days ago, but they have taken it in their stride and are already making friends with each other at the nursery.
